Trekking in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh - the extreme north eastern state of India is one of the most unexplored areas of the Himalayas. This green patch of India is botanically rich and complete with trekking opportunities and hundreds of plant species, rare to find elsewhere in the world. The tropical and semi tropical climate of the area has favoured in the growth of a spectacular range of plantations.

Plan a trek to the area of Arunachal Pradesh the real botanical treasure trove of the Himalayas in India. The weather of Arunachal Pradesh India favours the growth of a much larger diversity of interesting plant species, many of which are waiting to be discovered.

The journey to the extreme north eastern part of India is arduous and extremely adventurous in its nature. Trekking through the challenging terrains of Arunachal Pradesh with outstanding stock of varied botanical species is purely unique and breath-holding. The route to each trek is a quite unique experience.

The Major Treks

Tribal Villages Trek

This trekking tour is organized along the Indo-Tibetan border. The trek covers a visit to Sherdukpen tribal villages at Jigoan and Shergoan, Monpa tribal villages, high altitude sheep breeding farm and yak research center and beautiful Sangti valley, apple orchard at Dirang etc. The trek includes: Guwahati - Itanagar - Ziro - Daporijo - Along - Pasighat - Dibrugarh.

High Altitude Trekking Expedition in Arunachal Pradesh

Base camp trek for the mountaineering Expedition in Kangto and Gorichen range of Arunachal Himalayas. (Kangto –7090m, Nyegi kangsang-7050, Gorichen Main-6488 and Gorichen east 6222m) some of the peak are still unclaimed.

Siang Valley Trekking Expedition

This trek is along the Tsangpo river in (Tibet) known as Siang in Pasighat district of Arunachal Pradesh, later which joined and known as Brahamaputra river in the state of Assam. The trek covers a visit of Adi (minyong, pasi, padam) tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.

Talley Valley Trekking Expedition

At an altitude of 2400 meters is Talley a plateau with dense forest of silver fir trees, pine clad plateau of beautiful surroundings, a vast wasteland, trek covering visit of Apatani village and its fish cum paddy culture is famous for it.

Trekking:

1. Thembang Trek

Tour : Delhi/Kolkata - Tezpur - Bomdila (8000 ft) - Thembang (7052 ft) - Semnak (7544 ft) - Lagam (8528 ft) - Chander (9000ft) - Sangti (5248 ft) - Dirang (5500 ft) - Tezpur - Delhi/Kolkata.

Duration : 10 Days/09 Nights

Season : October to April

2. Sela Pass Trek

Tour : Delhi/Kolkata - Tezpur - Bomdila (8000 ft)- Sela Pass (13714 ft) - Chabrila (14000 ft) - Bangazang (14200 ft) - Nuranang (12500 ft) - Tawang (10200 ft) - Tezpur - Delhi/Kolkata.

Duration : 9 Days/8 Nights

Season : October to April.

3. Ani Gompa Trek

Tour : Delhi/Kolkata - Tezpur - Bomdila (8000 ft)- Tawang (10200 ft) - Gyangong Ani Gompa (10500 ft) - Brama Dung Chung Ani Gompa (10600 ft) - Singsor Ani Gompa (11000 ft) - Tezpur - Delhi/Kolkata.

Duration : 9 Days/8 Nights

Season : October to April.

4. Gorichen Base Camp Trek

Tour : Delhi/Kolkata - Tezpur - Bomdila (8000 ft) - Jang (7000 ft) - New Maling (8200 ft) - Thingbu (11500 ft) - Mago (12100 ft) - Chokersam (14700 ft) - Gorichen Base Camp (16000 ft) - Jang - Tawang - Tezpur - Delhi/Kolkata.

Duration: 16 Days/15 Nights

Season: September to April.

5. Mechuka Trek

Tour : Dib- Likabali – Along -Tato- Nyungte camp - Karo camp - Seat camp – Manigang - Gyiching camp - Pangri camp - Livang camp - Kyibo Nabum pass - Konggung pass - Darjeeling- Menchuka - Ramo village - Basar - Jimey village - Likabali Circuit House.

Duration : 19 days/ 20 Nights

Season : September – October & February – March

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Guwahati Airport and drive Balipara via Mongoloid (200 km) over night at wild Mahseer / Eco Camp.

Day 02: Drive to Bomdila (136 kms), which takes about 5 hrs.entry point at Bhalukpong.Visit Tipi Orchiderium and Rupa town on the way packed/hot lunch at Dahung.O/n hotel Siphiyangpong.

Day 03: Drive to Mukto (5 hrs), packed/Hot lunch on the way, enroute visit Sela-Pass (14700 ft) altitude, Jaswant garh Memorial.O/n tented.

Day 04: Mukto village and gompa and trek to Kipti(3 hrs),one and half hour is down to the Twanchu river, packed lunch and normal up through the cultivation field of Monpa tribe and villages.O/n camp/school/L.house.

Day 05: Trek to Tawang (6hrs) via Seru village. Trek is normal up but some point steep before Tawang.Packed lunch on the way.O/n camp/Tourist lodge/hotel.

Day 06: Full day S/seeing in & around Tawang, visit 450 yrs old Buddhist Monastry, Nunneries, War Memorial, and the Birth place 6th Dalai Lama local market etc.O/n camp/Tourist lodge/hotel.

Day 07: Drive to Dirang (5 hrs), enroute S/seeing of some bunkers which the Indian Army used during the Chinese Aggregation in 1962 near Jang town. Visit Nuranang Falls, Hot water spiring.O/n camp/ lodge.

Day 08: Trek to Namshu (3 hrs), Trek is normal up, a Monpa village situated on the Namshu valley, pack lunch on the way, visit village, Gompa etc. O/n camp/school/L. house.

Day 09: Trek to Thembang(4 hrs),Trek is normal up and down, pack lunch on the way, village is situated on about 9000 ft,visit village,Gompa etc. O/n camp/school/ Lodge.

Day 10: Early B/fast and Trek down to Village Rahung (2 hrs) and drive to Itanagar (7 hrs), the Capital city of Arunachal Pradesh/n hotel Arunachal.

Day 11: Morning visit state Museum, sales Emporium, both Hinayana and Mahayana Gompas and itafort, early lunch and drive to Ziro (4 hrs), enroute s/seeing of Nishi villages at Yazali and Zoram top. O/n hotel Blue pine.

Day 12: Full day s/seeing in & around Ziro,this is the head quarter of Lower Subansiri district and only the plateau in Arunachal where the people practice Pisciculture, visit Apatani tribe and village at Hong which is known as The 2nd largest village in Asia,Museum,Craft centre, local markets etc. O/n hotel Blue pine.

Day 13: Drive to Daporijo(6 hrs) the head quarter of upper Sunbansiri district,enroute visit Nishi & Hill Miri tribe and villages near by Raga and Godak after crossing the river Kamala at Tamen. Pack lunch on the way.O/n Guest house.

Day 14: Drive to Along (5 hrs) right along the river Subansiri in morning, the Head quarter of west Siang District, enroute visit Adi- Galong tribe and villages. Packed / hot lunch on the way.O/n Anchal Bhawan/camp.

Day 15: Full day in & around Along, visit Kaying villages with Multitribe (40 km), Museum, local on the way.O/n A.Bhawan/ hotel/camp.

Day 16: Drive to Pasighat (4 hrs) the Head Quarter of East Siang District, enroute visit Adi- Minyong village ‘YEKSI’ for Tapu (War) dance. Packed lunch on the way. Afternoon visit craft and local market.O/n hotel/Guest house.

Day 17: Early B/fast and drive to Oyramghat (1 hr) and transfer to hotel .O/n hotel.

Day 18: Transfer to Mohanbari Airport and fly to Delhi.
